Timeanddate.com seems like an odd choice at first for a website that’s supposed to help us with our careers. But then I got to thinking about it and realized just how useful this site really is.
We are becoming more and more connected to the rest of the world. More and more of the things we will be doing as communications majors will happen remotely. To give a presentation to a client, we don’t actually have to be in the same room as them. Some of the people I work for in the future could be on the other side of the world. The materials that we produce could be viewed by anyone, anywhere. That makes our awareness of time zones all the more important.
Even more so than keeping US time zones in mind, we need to be aware of the time in other countries. Not all states and not all countries have daylight savings time, which makes things complicated. Fortunately, with timeanddate.com, you can enter the name of a major city in the world, and find out what time it is there.
Another extremely useful tool is the meeting planner. Enter a day and the cities the meeting participants will be in, and it finds a time that means nobody is up at 2am trying to stay awake during the meeting. Or, at least, it does its best.
This is one extremely useful website, made all the better by its easy to remember address.
